Saint Valentine's Day is an annual commemoration held on February 14 celebrating love and affection between intimate companions. The day is named after one or more early Christian martyrs named Valentine and was established by Pope Gelasius I in 500 AD. It is traditionally a day on which lovers, friends, boyfriends and girlfriends express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines").
In Brazil we have "dia dos namorados"celebrated on June 12th, it is different from valentines' because only boyfriends and girfriends change gifts!
How about working this poem with your students? You can erase some words and ask them to guess, write or create new ones rebuilding the poem! There are many possibilities! It's up to you!

The Night Was Made For Romance
The night was made for romance.
In the night our two hearts dance.
Under the stars our lips touch.
In the garden your embrace means so much.
The night was made for love.
Our hearts cooing like a white dove.
Your eyes sparkling like diamonds so white.
I love you darling with all my might.
The night was made for caring and trust.
And darling, God made this night for us.

what a nice activity!thanks!
ResponderExcluirA atividade é bem interessante, irei fazer com meus alunos. Nunca trabalhei poemas em minhas aulas, acho uma otimo oportunidade para uma atividade escrita e para aumentar o vocabulário de um jeito criativo.

It's a very good suggestion to work with our students. I loved this poem! They can create their own poem, too.
